Creighton Basketball Bids Farewell to McDermott, Welcomes Huss: A Look at the Programs Legacy and Future

Creighton basketball is saying goodbye to head coach Greg McDermott after sixteen successful seasons. McDermott, the programs all-time winningest coach with 365 victories, leaves with an overall record of 645 wins against 383 losses. He guided the Bluejays to ten NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run and the 2020 Big East regular-season title. McDermott earned Big East Coach of the Year honors that year and built a powerhouse program in Omaha.

Longtime assistant Alan Huss takes over as the seventeenth head coach, following McDermotts departure. Huss spent six years under McDermott and previously led High Point to its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid. Creighton fans hope Huss maintains the teams momentum and continues to develop their top young talents as they strive for more big wins in the future.
