Show Notes

In this chilling true crime episode, we investigate how an 18-year-old Finnish YouTuber named Pekka-Eric Auvinen transitioned from internet posts to one of the deadliest school shootings in Finland’s history. Auvinen used his YouTube presence to post disturbing videos and a manifesto foreshadowing violence, including a clip titled “Jokela High School Massacre” shortly before he carried out his plan.
The Guardian +1
On November 7, 2007, Auvinen entered Jokela High School in Tuusula, Finland, armed with a legally obtained .22 pistol. Over a terrifying span of minutes, he shot and killed eight people, including students and the school principal, and injured several others before fatally shooting himself.

Investigators later found he had idolized other mass killers and extremist ideologies, posting content glorifying violence and dehumanizing others online. His intentions were clear in his online writings, where he described himself as a “natural selector” who would “eliminate all who I see unfit” — a dark insight into his misanthropic mindset.
