The start of a civil fraud trial against former President Donald Trump, his adult sons, their businesses and several executives has wrapped up for the day. An appeal to disqualify Trump from running for office is one of two cases the US Supreme court declined to take up on the first day of its new term. Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz is accusing House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of making a side deal on Ukraine aid. Authorities have ramped up a desperate search for a missing 9-year-old girl in upstate New York. And, unlawful migrant crossings at the southern border have reached a record high for the year.
