We're back with "Raw Relationship Talk," part two with the lovely Angel Rae-Robinson. This week's topic: Cheating. Both Angel Rae and Ed discuss gender roles in relationships, why it's not as celebrated when men remain faithful to one woman versus the praising of men managing multiple women at once; why the acceptance of women entertaining multiple men at a single time may never happen; plus much, much more. Ed Lover also opens up to Angel Rae, admitting that money and fame from "Yo! MTV Raps" made it easier for him to pursue multiple women at once. An R&B sensation. Ginuwine's rap sheet as a musician ranges from working with everyone from (but not limited to) Nas, to Aaliyah, Timbaland to DeVante Swing. In this raw and candid interview, Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, famously known as the man who forever made 'Pony' the male exotic dancer anthem, opened up to Ed Lover and Monie Love about his 20+ year music career, his leaked nudes, the golden days of R&B music, the life and legacy of Static Major plus much more. Ed will tell you: "C'Mon Son!" wouldn't exist if it wasn't for this man right here featured on this episode. If it wasn't for DJ Drama playing a Gucci record at a Jeezy party during the height of the Gucci-Jeezy rap beef, Ed wouldn't have even coined the term "C'Mon Son." Now, Ed sits with Drama and Sense at Means Street Studio (DJ Drama's studio in Atlanta, GA) and they get insanely personal as they take a stroll down memory lane. Well this is the first time one of our interview's has went viral before we could even post it online. We're talking about reality TV star K.Michelle's surprise pop-in & ultimate "TREATING" (for those who don't know, being "treated" is a coined Chicago term, meaning 'dissing' or 'clowning,' or an attempt to put a person in one's place) of Ed Lover during his interview with one of hip-hop's favorite super producers, Drumma Boy. What was predicted to be a one-on-one chill convo with Drumma, completely went left when K.Michelle popped in to say hey to her fellow Memphis homie, BUT she peeped that Drum was being interview by no one other than the Ed Lover. She then took that opportunity to vent but both parties involved were able to find common ground and ultimately, become new friends. With that being said - check out what was supposed to be an interview with Drumma Boy, take a left, then come right back around and end with, well...Drumma. Enjoy. Ed Lover opens up in this episode of C'Mon Son! The Podcast, addressing people who negatively comment about his podcast, as well as re-living his fond & priceless memories with rap icon, Tupac Shakur. One thing that's for sure...is not too many people can say they got kicked out of Magic City with Pac. This episode also hits home for Ed, as he pays homage to those close to him who have passed on and didn't make it to see 2017. Before Fat Joe, before The Fat Boys, before Notorious B.I.G., there was the Chubbster, famously known as Chubb Rock. Richard Simpson paved the way for "big guys" to be taken seriously in the rap game. Heavy D was known to be heavy and a ladies man, however Chubb took it to a whole other level; chubby but intelligent. From working with Al B. Sure, to MC Serch, to Redman, Doug E. Fresh plus many more...to discovering Lady of Rage; to ghostwriting for greats like The Beastie Boys and P.Diddy in his early days...Chubb gave us so many hip-hop hits, not to mention his feature on the oh-so epic, "Back To The Grill Again." On this Martin Luther King Day, o'g Ed Lover breaks down "cool" with young g, emerging rap artist Nick Grant. As the buzz of Nick's newly released album "Return of the Cool" stays on the incline, Ed challenges Nick to define what separates him from "mumble rappers," when did cool leave and the value of hip-hop origins in today's rap (ex. - if it wasn't for Rakim, there's no Nas; without Nas, there's no Nick Grant, etc.). MORE: Grant spits a sultry freestyle for the ladies, leaks to our listeners what his first rap name was and keeps it candid on what it's like being managed by hip-hop icons Chaka Zulu (founder, Disturbing Tha Peace) and Jason "JG" Geter (founder, Grand Hustle). Associated as the head culprit of the crack-cocaine epidemic that spanned across the U.S., Richard Donnell "Freeway Rick" Ross at one point had a business worth well over over $500 million in the 80s, due to his strategic methods used to distribute kilos of cocaine across the country at a bargain price. From buying out the bar to living behind bars, Ross' trademark, famously known as "ready rock," landed him in prison, but never the less, made him iconic as ready rock made drug dealer's distribution process easier; the stimulant was immediately ready to be used and there was no need for additional processing. On this week's episode of "C'mon Son," the original Rick Ross takes our listeners on a personal and honest journey from "ready-rock" to rehabilitated. What happened to 90's girl groups?Girl groups and the 90s go together like LeBron James and a basketball court. But, why is it that 90s girl groups, or girl groups in general, don't stay together very long? The group "702" gave us hits like 'Stee-Lo' and the early-Pharrell produced chart topper, 'I Still Love You...' but when Meelah Williams sat down with Ed Lover, she told him even though the group saw success, not everything that glitters is gold. Check out our 5th episode of "C'Mon Son! The Podcast," our conversation with 90's R&B great, the lead singer of 702, Meelah Williams. In light of the recent hospitalization of Kanye West, Ed Lover brings in mental health expert and psychologist, Dr. Alduan Tartt (known for his appearances on BET, CNN, HLN, Black Enterprise, Essence Magazine, etc.) to address why men, especially men of color, are afraid to talk about their feelings, solutions and the taboo topic of the "Kardashian Effect." "Men! Owning up to your feelings is NOT a sign of insecurity nor weakness! We need to embrace how we feel and talk to someone instead of letting it build up and compartmentalize, or you're going to have a breakdown." - Ed Lover To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
