On today’s “Closer Look,” Gelila Assefa Puck has joined the newly formed advisory board of the Center for Studies on Africa and Its Diaspora (CSAD) at Georgia State University. Ahead of her visit to Atlanta, she speaks with Host Rose Scott about the importance of sharing positive aspects of African American history in the United States with Black immigrants.

 

Also, the docuseries, “The Black Beauty Effect,” examines the economic power, the cultural history and current significance of Black people in the beauty scene. Filmmakers Andrea Lewis and CJ Faison speak with Host Rose Scott about the impact of the Black Beauty industry and the progress that still needs to be made.
