Show Notes
Ohio Bans Ranked-Choice Voting: Governor Mike DeWine signs Senate Bill 63, prohibiting the system statewide. The bill, supported by lawmakers who deem it too expensive and confusing, also penalizes local governments for attempting to use it. Ranked-choice voting, currently in use in Maine, Alaska, San Francisco, and Minneapolis, faced setbacks this year with voters rejecting it in seven states. Advocates with Rank the Vote Ohio plan a statewide ballot initiative to bring it back, but may not make this Novembers ballot.
