Classic Movies Live! returns for a glorious fifth season, and just like every season, Pierre and Jeff have some excellent surprises in store for 2024!
But first!
A few years ago, our hosts made it their mission to talk about all the films nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars before the ceremony, and with 4 of the nominees having had dedicated episodes last season, we're starting today on the final 6!
First up, Alexander Payne's TIFF favourite starring Paul Giamatti and Da'Vine Joy Randolph, The Holdovers! In this film set at Christmas 1970, a curmudgeonly boarding school history teacher spends the holidays at school looking after the students who aren't going home for the holidays. What at first seems a bit like an extra-long detention with everyone's least favourite teacher soon becomes a bonding experience between a surprising found family.
