A Clare MEP is urging the Government to introduce free public transport to offset the effect of rising energy prices. It follows the International Monetary Fund's warning that "all roads lead to higher prices and slower growth nationwide". A 2023 report commissioned by the National Transport Authority found that implementing the measure would cost around €275 million.
