A Clare developer who's been fighting for 20 years to get planning permission for a development on the site of a former pub says no one will "put a gun" to his head and stop him from achieving his aim. Noel O'Loughlin has withdrawn an application for a mixed-use development, including assisted living houses, on the site of Purcell's Lounge Bar in Ruan due to wastewater connectivity issues. It's the fifth time the Corofin native has attempted to get approval for a redevelopment of the building which was subject to an act of vandalism earlier this month. He says he intends to keep moving forward until the project is realised.
