It's claimed a lack of Government funding is leaving Clare's healthcare on the backfoot. New figures from Cancer Trials Ireland shows that between 2021 and 2026, HSE Mid West and HSE North West were each allocated just over €600,000 for the medical research. In the same timeframe, meanwhile, over €10.8m was distributed to services in the east of the country. Chairman of HSE Mid West's Patient and Service User Council and Quin native John Wall says the imbalance needs to be addressed.
