Undeterred by a layoff, a local journalist launches her own bilingual newspaper
Portia Li, who had reported in San Francisco for The World Journal since 1986, was laid off last April, but that didn’t stop her from continuing to practice journalism. Her next move was to start her own publication: She launched the Wind Newspaper in September, in print, online, and in English and Chinese. She talks about her past work and how she plans to bridge communities with bilingual news.
