As state legislators begin to talk about next year's budget, data centers have taken center stage, sparking negotiations over proposed regulations. The companies behind data centers promise new jobs, but there’s growing concern among lawmakers over the loss of billions of dollars due to their eligibility for a tax exemption and their impact on the environment and utility costs.
