Focus on the Family Weekend - Focus on the Family Weekend: April 04. - April 05. 2025

In today’s society, a lot of families think Easter is more about rabbits and chocolate, rather than the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bob Lepine explores various traditions of Easter, and points out the true meaning of this holiday — Jesus died and rose again so we can live forever with him in Heaven! Then Champ Thornton wants to inspire children – and their parents – with fascinating Bible facts, biographies of great Christians, humor, trivia, and more! He believes kids need to integrate their faith with the “real world” all around them and learn how to discern between godly truth and cultural perspectives.

12 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Easter

The Really Radical Book for Kids

Coming Home

How to Read the Bible – As a Family

If you enjoyed listening to Focus on the Family Weekend, please give us your feedback.

Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread - Serving God Out of Love

My dad was a hard worker on our farm and in the factory but not necessarily a handyman. Sometimes when a tractor or furnace or plumbing failed, a neighbor or friend would offer to fix it. Dad offered to pay even though he knew he couldn’t afford as much as they deserved. But they wouldn’t accept anything; they just loved to help. He would gratefully say, “Thanks. Until you’re better paid.” I’m not sure what he meant. Maybe he or someone else would do something for them later.

Believers in Jesus who serve others because of their love for Him will one day be rewarded. Perhaps that’s a form of “until you’re better paid.” Jesus told His followers to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20). Doing good to others may be one way to store up some of those “treasures.” He said we shouldn’t announce it “with trumpets”; if we do, that’s all the reward we’ll get (v. 2). We can be confident He sees us. The book of Hebrews reinforces this idea: “God . . . will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them” (6:10).

We don’t serve for rewards but rather because Jesus loves us and in response we express our love and praise for Him. What a blessing it will be to hear God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (25:21, 23).

Wretched Radio with Todd Friel - Good Friday: The Cross, Your Guilt, & The Life You Must Lose

Segment 1

• If the cross is everything… why does your faith still feel disconnected?

• Stop looking for God’s love in blessings—look at Calvary instead.

• What actually happened 2,000 years ago—and why does it change everything for you?

Segment 2

• Why would it please God to crush His own Son?

• You don’t understand how much God hates sin—and that should terrify you.

• What if your “small sins” are enough to condemn you forever?

Segment 3

• Think you understand the cross? Make sure you haven’t softened it.

• What did Jesus physically endure—and why should that shake you?

• If this is what your sin costs… have you taken it seriously?

Segment 4

• The cross isn’t about improving your life—it’s about killing your old one.

• Why “asking Jesus into your heart” might not mean you’re saved.

• Have you actually died to yourself—or are you still trying to save your life?

___

Thanks for listening!

Wretched Radio would not be possible without the financial support of our Gospel Partners.

If you would like to support Wretched Radio we would be extremely grateful. VISIT https://fortisinstitute.org/donate/

If you are already a Gospel Partner we couldn’t be more thankful for you if we tried!

Back to the Bible Canada with Dr. John Neufeld - Passion: The Man of the Night

Judas had every opportunity to turn back — but he didn't. In this episode, Dr. John Neufeld walks through John 13:20–30, tracing the final moments before Judas leaves the upper room to betray Jesus. It's a sobering portrait of what happens when a heart grows so hardened that even the outstretched hand of Jesus is refused — and a warning that the darkness we choose can eventually become the darkness that owns us.

Passion: Easter is a pivotal time in the life of a Christian. The foundation of our faith relies on the death and more importantly, the resurrection of Jesus. This 15-message series will prepare our hearts for the Easter season as Dr. Neufeld walks us through the various aspects of the time leading up to Jesus’ death. Talking about the stories of Jesus in the week leading up to his death, also known as Passion week, ought to awaken our own passion of service, thankfulness, and worship. This is a series you won’t want to miss!

A Word With You - When Good Friday Gets Personal - #10235

Twenty-three marks on the wall of his four-by-four prison cell told the story. It had just been three weeks since the soldiers captured him - the number one name on the Most Wanted List - at a local bar and they hauled him into this cell. The charges were robbery, treason, and murder. Day 23 was going to be just another day there, or so he thought until he heard the growing sounds of that angry mob outside the window above him. He managed to grab the bars on the window and pull himself up high enough to hear what the crowd was screaming. It was a combination of shock and fear that swept over him when he heard they were shouting his name! "Give us Ba-rabbas! Give us Ba-rabbas!"
Then the chant gradually began to change. Now they were shouting with this bloodthirsty anger, "Cru-ci-fy him! Cru-ci-fy him!" Barabbas slumped to the floor. He couldn't believe it. He'd been their hero, but now they were calling for his execution by the most brutal means of execution ever devised - death on a cross. Within minutes, five soldiers were dragging him, kicking and screaming down the corridor, up the stone steps, and to another door. They flung the door open, pushed him through it, and slammed the door behind him.

It took a little while for him to realize where he was. He was out on the cobblestone street of Jerusalem. He was free! Before reality could fully dawn on Barabbas, the door behind him opened again. He literally had to roll out of the way to keep from being trampled by this angry crowd pushing their way through with a bare-backed, bleeding man in the middle of them. As Barabbas plastered himself against the wall of that narrow street, he could see that man's back had been so brutally beaten it was like one gaping wound, exposing tissue and bone everywhere. Barabbas' first instinct was to run while he could, but he didn't. He followed that crowd all the way up to that skull-shaped hill just outside the city, where from a distance, he heard the hammer and the spikes that the heartless executioners of Rome were driving into that man's hands and feet.

It turned dark as night in the middle of the day and the skies opened up with a deluge of rain. Curious spectators just began to drift away. Finally, Barabbas felt safe enough to walk slowly to the top of Skull Hill, with his head covered. It was as if there was a magnet pulling him toward the man hanging on that middle cross between two other dying criminals. Barabbas had heard the man say from that cross, "Father, forgive them." He'd heard many things at crucifixions. He'd heard cursing, and screaming, and threatening, but never "forgive."

He now could recognize the face that was beaten almost beyond recognition. It was Jesus - the man who had done no wrong, whose only crime was to love those that no one else cared about. And in that moment Barabbas found himself looking up into the eyes of that man on the middle cross and saying aloud, "Jesus, you don't deserve to be there, I do. But because You're dying there, I don't have to die." I could walk up to the cross where Jesus died and say that, and so could you.

I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You on this Good Friday about "When Good Friday Gets Personal."

I don't know if Barabbas ever really made it to the cross, but I do know that getting to that cross to have your sins forgiven is your only hope of heaven. Our word for today from the Word of God is in Galatians 2:20, and it simply says, "The Son of God...loved me and gave Himself for me."

If you've never been to Jesus' cross and said those words, "For me. You're dying for me," this could be your personal Jesus-day. When you tell Him you are His, when every wrong thing you've ever done will be erased from God's book, because the blood shed on that cross was shed to pay for it. And when you trade hell for heaven this

Keys for Kids - daily devotions and Bible stories ... - Sweet Timing

Read: Proverbs 3:5-6; Hebrews 13:20-21

“I can’t wait to taste maple syrup!” Brady said, smacking his lips.

Mom laughed. She was chaperoning his field trip to the nature center to see how maple syrup was made.

As they trudged behind their group, Brady sighed. “I wish I was invited to my teacher’s wedding.”

Mom was surprised. “Why do you want to go?”

Brady frowned. “What if I get married someday? I need to know how to do it!”

“If you do get married, it won’t be for a long time, Brady,” said Mom.

Brady bit his lip. “But what if I’m not ready when the time comes?”

The group stopped in front of a large sugar maple. They watched a man drill a hole in the tree and tap a wooden peg he called a spile into the hole. After several seconds, the sap began to drip, and the class formed a line to get a taste.

“What do you remember about the temperatures needed to collect sap?” Mom asked Brady.

“It has to be twenty degrees Fahrenheit at night and forty-five degrees during the day, in the spring.”

Mom nodded. “God cares an awful lot about the details in preparing trees for maple syrup–making, doesn’t He? But He cares about people even more than trees. He sent Jesus to save us so we could be His children, and He’ll prepare us for whatever He has planned for our lives—like getting married or having a job. We can have confidence in His timing.”

Brady caught a drop of sap on his tongue. “This isn’t very sweet.”

“They still have to boil it before it turns to syrup,” Mom explained. “Preparing maple syrup is a process—and being prepared for the things God wants for us is a process too. We don’t have to know everything right away. See that little sapling?” Mom pointed to a tree no bigger around than Brady’s thumb. “It’s got a lot more growing to do before it can give sap for syrup. And you’ve got a lot more growing to do too.”

Brady smiled as they were handed samples of sweet golden syrup. “Let’s have maple syrup for dinner!” he said after tasting it. Discover the Word Podcast - Cross Stations - Week 2

Come along with us as we continue tracing Jesus’ final steps in Scripture toward the crucifixion. Remember what He did for you by exploring where He stopped to speak with women and criminals, where He cared for His mother, died on the cross, and was buried. Follow our Savior’s journey to save us—and embrace how this can impact our lives today.

Receive

Christians once retraced Jesus’ final steps, pausing at “stations” to remember His sacrifice. In “Cross Stations,” we follow that path through Scripture.
