Ep 403David and Goliath [David 03]
1 Samuel 17:1-58 / Paul Brandes We all love a good underdog story, don’t we? They uniquely capture our hearts, minds, and attention. Why is that? Is it maybe because we’ve all been the underdog? We’ve all been counted out, looked over, down on the mat while the judge is counting to 10. Except for One… Who is it? Who has never been an underdog? And what might He be able to do for you?Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49081670Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2553/responses/new23.05.28

Ep 394The King’s Betrayal [Behold your King 13]
John 18:1-27 // Caleb JenkinsWhat do you do when you fail? How do you respond when others, or even God, apparently fail you? As John records this gospel he wants us to know that Jesus’ death was no accident or failure. He is in complete control throughout his entire betrayal and arrest and succeeds in his goal. John has intertwined Jesus’ story with that of his disciples, particularly Peter, who is also on trial as well but fails at every turn. He has no idea what’s going on here and at each point, he falls short. Yet Jesus knows all that is going to happen, and he loves Peter, and us as well, to the end.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49045353Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2553/responses/new23.03.26

John 18:28-19:22 // Paul BrandesEveryone has a king. Who or what is yours? Humans have long been obsessed with questions of power, authority, and control. Who has it? Who has the most of it? Who is king? Whose kingdom is biggest? What if there was a different way? A different approach? A different answer? Join us as we continue our journey through the final chapters in John’s gospel to discover how Jesus is a different kind of king with a different kind of kingdom.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49045342'Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new23.03.19

Ep 387The King’s Counselor [Behold your King 06]
One of the most important questions to ask is not just “what is God” or “who is God?” but “Where is God?” Interestingly enough, Jesus makes it clear that to answer that question we must also ask “Where am I?”Join us as we continue walking through the Gospel of John to explore where God longs to live most. Ep 386The King’s Father [Behold your King 05]
At almost every turn, there’s trouble — something to worry about it. In these moments of trouble — moments of worry, frustration, and anxiety, we want to know: Is everything going to be okay? How can it possibly all be okay? No matter what you’re facing. Jesus says to you: Everything is going to be ok. And in these verses, Jesus gives two reasons why and the next step to take.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49014841Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new23.01.29

Ep 3802022 Christmas Eve Service
After millennia of promising a king would come, he finally appears, and it’s almost completely overlooked by the world. In the shadow of a massive empire, comes the king over all, and he came for us. Join us this Christmas Eve as we take time to notice and celebrate the birth of the promised king!Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new22.12.24
Ep 385The King’s Love [Behold your King 04]
We should be known by our love. And that love is defined as a basin and towel of humble service, even to those who would deny us and betray us.He washed us clean of our guilt and shame. And we still deny Him. We still betray Him. Even so, He loves us like this. Let Him wash you. Let Him serve you. And then join Him in doing the same. And when we do? Just think of the impact we can have. Social historians point out this is one of the primary reasons the Christian movement grew in the first centuries. We actually loved like this. Across ethnic lines. Across socio-economic lines. Even towards our enemies. And it literally changed our world.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/49014830 Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new23.01.22
Ep 384The King’s Word [Behold your King 03]
It is easy to become overwhelmed by options and choices. Sometimes we are paralyzed not wanting to commit to anything because we’re afraid something better might come along. But this is a recipe for deep unhappiness in life and in our relationships. When it comes to Jesus it can be tempting to keep our options open. But this passage pleads with us: Don’t say No to Jesus. Ep 378The King's Character [Advent 03]
THIS is the King we need. The fulfillment of Psalm72, and every earthly ruler. This One knows the needy. This One finds us precious. This One is with the needy now and forever. He is with us both now and forever. He actually knows what it’s like to be in need. Entering our world as a helpless baby. No less a King and yet still so vulnerable. For He sympathizes with our weakness. He longs to sit with us in them. And went to a cross to overcome them. Are you expecting your King to join you in your need? Not just fix it. Sometimes that’s not what’s best. But to join us in it. And your need is all you need to bring Him.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/48992860Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2574/responses/new22.12.11

Ep 374Bondservants of Christ [Reconstructing Faith 13]
The bible has often been called the “good book” for it indeed is that. It is the masterpiece of masterpieces. But the good book can be misused for deceptive aims, abusive purposes and nefarious ends. The bible can be wrongly taught to say what it does not say, to support deceptive plausibilities that perpetuate anything, but truth, goodness and beauty in the world, but rather legitimize abuse, domination, evil, and suffering. Our hearts break at this, but it is a sober reminder for us of the importance of teaching what the Holy Scripture actually teaches, of teaching the whole counsel of God and embracing the moral clarity it brings to our broken world. We are not our own. We belong to Jesus. We learn from Jesus as yoked apprentices who understand and steward power radically different from the world. re–what a glorious place we live, love and work before an Audience of One.Prayer Requests: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2509/responses/newSermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/4897744122.11.13
Ep 373Honest Work [Reconstructing Faith 12]
Chances are good the majority of people don’t think they are engaged in “dishonest” work on a daily basis, but are you so sure? What if the problem has less to do with what you consider “dishonest” or more about a robust framework of “honest” work? Join us as we continue our journey in Ephesians of reconstructing a faith that actually blossoms into honest work, and therefore generates a more meaningful life. Ep 371Walk in Love [Reconstructing Faith 10]
No one wants to live without love, but when God’s word calls us to walk in love as he is defined by love, there will come a point it will feel weird. Weird because God’s love doesn’t always match our current cultural understanding of love. And yet, only when we embrace God’s way of love will we experience the Holy Spirit shaping our community into a radical loving space where we experience God. Join us as we continue our journey in Ephesians of reconstructing a faith that challenges specifically shallow, self-serving communities and builds a particular community where God dwells with a certain mindset and practices. Ep 354Sea [Signs of Life 02]
Could it be that the Son of God also longed for those places where He could hear the Father whispering to Him: I am with you.I struggle to hear God's voice. But I regularly hear it most in 2 places. From His Word. And from His people. And if you feel like you’re drowning in the chaos. You are not alone. And you need it, too. His Word. And His people. Imagine the chaos. Maybe it’s a relationship. Maybe it’s your cubicle. The next doctor's visit. Do you see it? Do you feel the storm?I want you to hear these words. As you imagine yourself in that place. Jesus says to you: I’m here. Don’t be afraid. I’m here. Don’t be afraid. I’m here. Don’t be afraid.Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/4890962722.06.26

Ep 351Remember Your Creator [Life Up in Smoke 06]
And why, why is it never too early to remember your Creator? Because time is coming for you. And as uncomfortable as that makes us, or as painful as that may be, the better we are at reckoning with that idea, no matter how old or young we are…the better we are with facing it head on, with confronting it, owning it …the wiser we will be today. Sermon Notes: https://www.bible.com/events/4889983922.06.05
Ep 350Justice Up In Smoke [Life Up In Smoke 05]
There’s nothing really new in the world. The moment progress is felt, the same pains, the same injustices, the same wickedness rear their smug faces. We take two steps forward and two steps back. Some want to say things are always getting worse while others are saying things are getting better, and then the weather changes and so does both of their stances. What do we do when it feels like making the world a better place feels so hopeless? Join us as the seasoned wisdom of Ecclesiastes guides us along the way.
