- Baidu ประกาศกร้าวว่าจะเป็นผู้บุกเบิกในด้าน Artificial Intelligence (AI) โดยในวันที่ 16 พฤษภา 2014 ไป่ตู้ได้ประกาศแต่งตั้งแม่ทัพเพื่อนำศึกสรภูมิครั้งนี้ นั่นคือ Andrew Ng เพื่อดำรงตำแหน่ง Chief Scientist ของ Baidu เขาผู้นี้ก็จะนำ Baidu Research ที่มีห้องปฏิบัติการทดลอง R&D ทั้งในปักกิ่งและSilicon Valley 3 research labs อยู่ภายใต้สถาบัน Baidu Research ได้แก่ the Silicon Valley AI Lab, the Beijing Deep Learning Lab และ the Beijing Big Data Lab.
- Baidu เริ่มลงทุนใน AI ก่อนคู่แข่งคนอื่น นอกจากนี้ ก็ยัง recruit top talents ในเงินเดือนที่สูงมากจากทั่วโลก ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นปัจจัยที่ทำให้เขาได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันต่อการปฏิวัติ AI คือalgorithms computing และ data.
- Andrew กล่าวว่า Badu จึงเป็นบริษัทระดับโลกแค่ไม่กี่บริษัทที่สามารถเข้าถึงจำนวนข้อมูลมหาศาลขนาดนี้ได้ และตอนนี้ผู้นำ AIกำลัง shift ไปสู่ high-performance computing และ Baidu ก็เป็นหนึ่งในไม่กี่บริษัทของโลกที่จะสร้าง processor สำหรับ deep learning
