Show Notes

Mei, an orangutan at the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas, gave birth to a baby boy on Jan 12 at 12:28pm, and the zoo staff has started a 24 hr watch to make sure that mom and baby are doing fine.

Laura, one of the Cameron Park zookeepers, gives Jeff Fisher an update on how Mei is doing to the wonderful news. Mei is doing a lot of nursing and bonding. KJ is the father of the newborn and he's also able to hear the baby boy squeaks.

"Mei has him tucked him and covers him up with his legs", Laura points out.

Jeffy asks; "Those people that spend a fortune on Target buying this kid stuff and the mom stuff, what have we used so far?" Laura says that they haven't had the chance to give them the presents/toys due to he's to young, but they have used the Adele CD and they have watched movies like Aladin, Pocahontas, Wall-E, and Zootopia.

The shutters for the public to see the newborn and mom will be announced via the Cameron Zoo Park Facebook page.
