The matrix displays family life in a very narcissistic way, a narcissistic spotlight if you will. Television shows with families feuding with each other and acting dumb are what narcissism likes to feed toddlers in adult bodies as entertainment. After all, keep toddlers entertained and they won't stop to question anything. Once we see the patterns of narcissism on the ground, we can connect dots to the societal level that match what we see in TV shows, movies, and commercials.
