A narcissist will do anything for attention and that includes some of the most mundane things like coughing louder than necessary. Narcissists are notorious for needing constant attention (except when they are sleeping IF they sleep). They will pull all kinds of stunts to get attention from whomever they can and it is going to involve childish things like interrupting someone who is talking and playing the one-upmanship game.
