In this episode, we will focus on when to order an ECG and other cardiac considerations for return to play after COVID-19 infection.

Approximately 35 to 45 million youth ages 6 to 18 participate in some form of athletics. As more of these young athletes return to sport amid the lingering pandemic, primary care providers are navigating new guidance about the evaluation and clearance of patients who have recovered from COVID-19. And because COVID-19 infections in pediatric patients are more likely to be asymptomatic or mild compared to adults, pediatric providers will frequently be presented with return-to play questions for patients who had asymptomatic or very mild disease.

On Season 3, Episode 56 of the podcast we covered the initial guidance on the return to sport during COVID-19.

Chris Rausch, MD is the Pediatric Cardiology Medical Director and Director of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory at Children's Colorado and is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Cardiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
