Lois DeAndrade survived a brutal attack, where Carpenter attempted to murder her during a ride to the dentist. Despite losing two fingers and sustaining a head injury, Lois remained resilient, never becoming a victim. Carpenter, who later became the Trailside Killer, was convicted in 1984 and is currently on death row at San Quentin.
