Show Notes
Qubes OS is a security-focused operating system that uses virtualization to provide users with exceptional security and convenience. In this talk, I want to show what makes Qubes OS special, why it is a great tool for power users and others alike, how it can be used in various contexts (from hacking and tinkering to activism and journalism) and why virtualization and compartmentalization can make using a computer not just more secure, but also a better experience.
As UX lead for Qubes OS, I will in particular focus on usability and user experience and how they are a crucial part of creating a secure environment, but I will also cover the technical background and organizational mechanisms we use to ensure Qubes OS is and remains secure.
