Day One of October Baseball is Here!

We are so very excited for the MLB Postseason, and we have some things to say.[00:34] We hop right in, recapping how Game 162 ended, and laying out the playoff field. With the Mets failing to pull through on Sunday, the Reds were able to sneak into the last spot of the National League Wild Card Series.[4:20] Now that the Wild Card games have officially started, Jordan shares his thoughts for the American League games - of course, he is pulling for the Red Sox - and Jaela is sticking by her (delusional) belief that the Cubs are going all the way.[18:58] A discussion about squeaky clean players leads to a slight detour about animated movies.[22:02] but we switch right back to sharing our predictions on how the first series of the week is going to pan out.[32:16] Jordan shares some statcast facts for the recently wrapped season, including the hardest hit ball for the season - which surprised Jaela![58:04] We end the episode with some final Postseason thoughts (can you tell we are excited?!) October Baseball is Knocking And We Have A Lot to Say

October Baseball is rapidly approaching, and we have a lot to say about it. [1:26] But first, we have to quickly talk about the worst teams in baseball and try to guess why they are just so bad. [7:30] Then we get into the many games this last week of baseball, and how it will make or break the postseason lineup. [10:50] The Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians are going head-to-head this week for not only a coveted Wild Card slot, but also the title of American League (AL) Central Champions. [14:38] Which leads us into the larger conversation - how will the American League shake out? With no Division Champions confirmed at the time of recording, and only one team secured in a playoff slot, anything can happen. [15:31] The Houston Astros are playing the Athletics, and Jaela walks down memory lane from her chaotic time in Houston. [17:57] The National League (NL) is a lot more competitive, and at least 4 teams are vying for that last Wild Card slot - the NY Mets, the San Fransico Giants, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Cincinnati Reds. Jordan shares his predictions about how that will play out. [22:40] Jaela shares her thoughts on the potential NL West Champions, the LA Dodgers, and their rival, the San Diego Padres. [27:14] Jordan shares his predictions for how the rest of the week will go, and who will end up on top going into October. And Jaela gives some advice to the NY Yankees for winning these next few games. [36:36] Jordan and Jaela predict the AL MVP (probably Aaron Judge), and give some much-deserved flowers to Cal Raleigh. [42:47] Then Jordan talks about the Red Sox closing the season out and the value of the Garret Crochet trade. [47:40] Finally, the automatic ball system (ABS) is making its major league debut next season. We chat about how this could help and change the game. Hosted on Acast. Playoff Baseball on the Horizon

Jaela and Jordan are back after a brief intermission, and oh so happy to be here. [3:00] This week, we get right into a recap of the current races for the last few Wild Card spots available. The Diamondbacks and the Giants are facing off in Phoenix for a chance at one of the last National League spots, while there is a showdown in Texas happening between the Astros and the Rangers for an American League wild card slot. [17:11] We then swap thoughts on the American League and National League teams in general, and how every year it is always different, but also always the same. [26:34] Jaela shares her thoughts on the problem with small market teams in general and how they can improve in the coming years (spoiler alert: spend more money!). [30:12] We also share some rapid-fire World Series predictions [38:55] Finally, Jordan talks about Juan Soto’s historic season. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
