It is imperative to have the right tools (and data) for the task at hand. The idea is to merge objects by common factors, retaining the data points that you need in your analysis. Once you have augmented data, then you have created value by facilitating analyses that could not otherwise be performed or visualizations that can only be created with the augmented data.
