The Hurricanes led 2-0 after one period, Then, after the Caps cut the lead in half, Carolina reeled off 4 unanswered to take the season finale from Washington, 6-1. Martin Necas scored twice and has 5 points in his last two games. Brett Pesce scored for the second straight outing and the Canes scored in three different situations. Carolina lit the lamp at 5-on-5, 4-on-4 and Sebastian Aho gave the Canes a shorthanded goal for the 2nd straight game. Freddie Andersen backstopped Carolina with 25 saves on the night.
