<p>The Canes jumped out to a 2-0 lead on early first period goals from Jack Roslovic and Sebastian Aho, but failed to score after that and lost in overtime to the Islanders, 3-2. Pyotr Kochetkov made 23 saves in the loss. The game saw the Hurricanes debuts for Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall, who were each acquired via trade Friday night. They each played well, though neither factored in on any scoring plays.</p>
