Prior to 1947, Canada produced 1/10th of the oil that it used domestically. Alberta was a have-not province, and Imperial Oil decided to drill one more well after 133 dry wells. They chose a site near Leduc, Alberta. The discovery they made there would change Alberta, and Canada forever.
