On this Good Friday, we reflect on the unimaginable love of Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for us. Pastor Harley takes us through the events from the Garden of Gethsemane to the cross, unpacking the intensity of Jesus’ suffering, the betrayal of Judas, and the injustice of His trial before religious and political authorities. As we follow the steps of His journey, we are reminded that this was not a surprise or accident—this was the moment God had planned from the foundation of the world, the hour when the Lamb of God would take away the sins of the world.
Through the lens of Hebrews 12, we are encouraged to “look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Pastor Harley illustrates how Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him—seeing you and me redeemed, forgiven, and restored. Every lash, every insult, every moment of darkness, and every ounce of pain was borne in love, so that we might never have to experience eternal separation from God. The message of the cross is not just about suffering; it’s about victory, purpose, and the boundless love that compelled the Creator to give His only Son.
The message concludes in Luke 22 with the institution of communion, reminding us that through His broken body and shed blood, Jesus inaugurates a new covenant for all who believe. As we take communion, we proclaim His death, celebrate His resurrection, and are called to lay aside the weights that hinder our faith. This message invites us to reflect deeply on the cost of our salvation and the love that held Jesus on the cross, urging us to fix our eyes on Him, endure, and run the race set before us with perseverance and hope.
