Show Notes

Caltrans gears up for full closure of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, starting as early as November 1st. Pre-construction work began March 23rd, with overnight westbound lane closures to prepare for the shutdown. The southbound State Route 47 on-ramp at Ferry Street will also close during these hours. The bridge, named after late Assemblyman Vincent Thomas, will have under-deck shields, work platforms, and stair access installed. The bridge, which opened in 1963, handles significant port and commuter traffic. Eastbound closures start later with advance notice and will continue through summer 2026, with no daytime disruptions planned. A final virtual town hall is scheduled for April 2nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. Register online to join and get the latest updates.
