BWI Daily: On3 Database, 2023 Hot Boards, Ryan Snyder‘s Best Bets

Penn State football may have stalled out on the field, but are they still making headway in recruiting? On3 recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the BWI Daily Edition to talk about just where the Nittany Lions stand in several vital areas. A significant change to the show and Blue White Illustrated's recruiting coverage took place this week with our switch to On3, the newest recruiting site in high school and college sports. Host Thomas Frank Carr and Snyder talk about what you should expect from On3 and how they plan to take high school scouting and recruiting coverage to the next level. One of the most significant changes that On3 is planning to bring to the table is the amount of information and interactive data that fans can access through their recruiting database. Snyder breaks down how many ways you can view a player in terms of historical perspective, high school prestige, and even which coaches are recruiting him. They also cover how On3 is changing the way classes are ranked. The new system gives a real-time picture of where any given school projects to finish, not just where they rank at the moment. For example, On3 ranks Penn State differently in their overall team rankings than other sites. Snyder explains the difference and why he's been pushing for this type of ranking system for years now. Next, they get into Snyder's recruiting hot boards for the 2023 class. He explains what they are and why he's tracking recruits this way instead of a full list of all of the offers that Penn State has sent out.
