Season 5 Episode 24: This episode features a conversation with Brian Torgersen, director of the Provo Airport, and Pete Codella, managing director of business services at the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity.
Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) is Utah's second busiest airport. Commercial service is provided through its partners Breeze Airways and Allegiant Air. The airport is considered a general aviation airfield, providing space for local aviators. With over 70,000 square feet of terminal space and four passenger gates, it offers quick and comfortable access to travel opportunities.
Torgerson discusses his employment history with Provo starting as a traffic engineer to his current role as director of PVU since August 2022. He also shares his institutional knowledge of the airport, the twists and turns it took to get a new airport terminal, and plans for accommodating international flights. Torgersen shares the many benefits passengers realize when they fly out of PVU, Provo's formation of a business travel task force that requests travel data, the competitive atmosphere of attracting and recruiting airlines, and much more.
