Niet haar liefde voor de Chinese taal of cultuur lokte correspondent Eefje Rammeloo naar Shanghai, de grootste stad van China, maar haar journalistieke voelsprieten. Dat bleek geen verkeerde keus: er is nieuws genoeg. Met een recorder en notitieblok draait Rammeloo overuren in het Aziatische land. Dit allemaal zonder haar gezin, dat vanwege de coronapandemie terug naar Nederland ging.
