Allan Szlafrok set out to achieve financial freedom in 2010 when he started investing in real estate. Eventually, he left a lucrative career as a commodities trader in 2012 to pursue real estate full time. He focused on purchasing and renovating single-family and small multifamily properties. Over the past nine years, he has been involved in over a hundred real estate transactions ranging from single-family homes to multifamily apartment buildings. He also authored "How Not To Make Money In Real Estate," a collection of real estate lessons to help new investors understand some of the hidden perils of real estate investing.
In today's episode, Allan shares what he learned on his journey from buying that first deal to building the portfolio he has today. He also discusses what not to do when buying investment properties and covers the costly missteps new investors should avoid.
