What's the perfect remedy for the Buffalo Bills (4-2), who are reeling after a two-game slide? A matchup with the winless New York Jets (0-6). On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico have everything you need to know for the Week 7 matchup.
In what is shaping up as a get-right game for both Buffalo's offense and defense, our podcasters discuss whether this is the week Buffalo gets its ground game going, whether opposing defenses have figured out a way to stop Josh Allen and the offense, how a depleted Buffalo secondary can rise to the occasion vs. an inept Jets offense, whether the Bills can resolve their defensive issues, and more.
Allen will need to show he can handle the pressure that Jets' defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is sure to bring, including blitz packages. If Allen can quickly identify the open receivers in Williams' man coverage, wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley should have a field day against the Jets secondary. Running back Devin Singletary has a nice bounce-back opportunity against a Jets run defense that is vulnerable, if only Buffalo's offensive line can rediscover its run blocking prowess.
Buffalo does have a ton of injuries to deal with and will be missing several key starters, including wide receiver John Brown, tight end Dawson Knox, guard Cody Ford, cornerback Josh Norman and linebacker Tyrel Dodson. With Tre'Davious White and Cam Lewis listed as questionable, the Bills could be without three cornerbacks vs. the Jets and must find a way to contain wide receiver Jamison Crowder, who always performs well vs. Buffalo.
Can Jerry Hughes, Ed Oliver, Mario Addison and the defensive line take advantage of a weak Jets offensive line to create pressure on Sam Darnold/Joe Flacco?
After answering these questions, our podcasters offer up their score predictions for the game.
