With Harry Miller missing spring with a minor injury, Matthew Jones has been getting first-team reps at center for Ohio State. Miller is expected to be healthy for the beginning of camp in August. Will he be the starting center, or will it be Jones? That is one of the many questions Jonah Booker answers as he joins Dave Biddle for his usual visit on the Friday 5ish. Duane's Top 5 (Still) Most Wanted for 2022
What if our Duane Long was appointed Ohio State's recruiting coordinator? The mind has trouble contemplating such a premise but this much is clear: Line play would be in focus. Like ... really in focus. So we asked Duane to come up with his top five most wanted prospects still out there in the Class of 2022. Skill players need not apply. The list consists of three defensive linemen and two offensive linemen. It's a big group. You wouldn't want to cover their grocery bill but you definitely want them protecting our quarterback and going after theirs (among other things). Expectations for 2021 Buckeyes | Schedule breakdown
Is it too early to start talking about expectations for Ohio State's 2021 football team? No? Good. Because Dave Biddle does a deep dive on that during today's show. Also, we take a close look at the Buckeyes' 2021 schedule, which is quite an interesting slate. And the show concludes with some OSU basketball talk. The Buckeyes are entering the postseason on a four-game losing streak. Can they get their confidence back at just the right time? We shall see. Will Tyler Friday start ahead of Zach Harrison at defensive end? Jonah Booker joins Dave Biddle for the Friday 5ish and JBook is coming strong with opinions on position battles that will be facing the Buckeyes during spring ball, who will be the top-four teams in the Big Ten in 2021 and much more. Cornered market | Passing on passer
Here's a stat that works: The last four out-of-state corners to begin their career at Ohio State and earn a starting spot have been picked in the NFL's first round: Brad Roby, Eli Apple, Damon Arnette and Jeffrey Okudah. Just for good measure, three Ohio native corners have also been taken in the first round during that stretch. It does appear Floridian cornerback Shaun Wade will be picked in the second round. Oh, the calamity. Still, it's an unbelievable recruiting arrow in Ohio State's quiver. It's likely a big reason why the Class of 2022 already boasts Floridian Jaheim Singletary and Louisianan by way of suburban Cincy in Jyaire Brown. And know this: Ohio State is not done. Corners from Florida and Texas have made Buckeye-related news recently. 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong is here to address that and also hit on a wide receiver and quarterback headed elsewhere. 2 weeks, 2 days until spring ball | Roles for Rhoads, Fitch
We now know exactly when Ohio State will begin spring football. The Buckeyes will kick off spring drills on Friday, March 19 -- which is just two weeks and two days from today. Then spring ball will culminate with the spring game on Saturday, April 17 at Ohio Stadium. Will there be fans in the stands? Well, athletic director Gene Smith says a final decision has not been made on that front, but one person who thinks fans should definitely be allowed inside the Horseshoe for the spring game is Matt Baxendell. Bax joins Dave Biddle on today's show to discuss all of that, the roles of new analysts Paul Rhoads and Todd Fitch, what to expect from OSU's rivals to the north in 2021 (is this Jim Harbaugh's final year?) and much more on the Wednesday 5ish. Transfer time ... or not? | Going back to Cali
Ohio State has a roster basically every other college football team covets. But that doesn't mean it's a finished product. Not at all. So should the Buckeyes pursue a transfer at ... say ... cornerback? Should they pursue an elite tight end now available? Duane Long is here to let you know when it's right to take a transfer ... and when it's time to pass. Several high-profile exits prompted this chat. We also do a deep dive on Mater Dei wide receiver C.J. Williams, the California star with an offer list that halts traffic. Spend 5ish with us this a.m, 'Nutters! March is here and the Monday 5ish is loaded with information and opinions on Ohio State football (and a little on basketball too). Patrick Murphy joins Dave Biddle and the following is on the agenda: * The Buckeyes landing four-star wide receiver Kyion Grayes on Sunday, giving them 11 commitments in their 2022 class and extending their lead over LSU for the No. 1 class in the nation. * How will the transfer portal affect Ohio State's roster this offseason, both in terms of arrivals and departures? * Who is Patrick's pick to win Ohio State's quarterback competition between CJ Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord? * Speaking of QB compeitions, Michigan added transfer Alan Bowman from Texas Tech. We give our thoughts on that and about the state of the program in Ann Arbor. * Ohio State's basketball team certainly is not beginning March feeling good about themselves.
