Mrs. Jennifer Douglas, BSD Assistant Superintendent, talks about the literacy events taking place in classrooms, across the state of Arkansas, and at home.
March "Reading Madness"
"Read Across America", February 27 - March 3
"If All Arkansas Read the Same Book", March 6 - April 1
A competition across the state will have students read, "J.D. and the Great Barber Battle" by J. Dillard.
There will be activities that go along with the storyline, which can be done at school and at home
Partnered with EAST students who will record reading the book
2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt, March 6 - April 3
Passports will be sent home with students, Kindergarten through 5th Grade -- if your child doesn't receive one, the passports will be available in your child's campus office.
5 locations throughout the city, where students will figure out riddles and receive stickers.
Once the passport is completed, the student can turn it in to be entered into a drawing for a Kindle -- the drawing will take place on April 3rd
