We got a special edition of the podcast for you today! Intern Anthony is on vacation, lounging in the Florida sun, but Joe Causi had the chance to chat with an up and coming superstar, comedian Eric D'Alessandro of Staten Island! They literally ran into each other at a local Shop Rite last week, and here they are chatting on the podcast days later! If you are not familiar with Eric, his video “Mask Off Remix (Walmart Diss)” has gone viral, gaining over 16 million views across all his platforms! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciYFgVpya5k&feature=emb_logo Due to the success of this video, Forbes featured Eric in an article about his comedy and ability to connect with fans online as well as on stage! Eric talked to Joe about growing up on the island and how he developed his comedy. "I didn't grow up as a typical Staten Islander" he says, "i lived in the Westerleigh section of the Island which was more diverse, my mom, dad and sister didn't act like everyone else." When it comes to his comedy, Eric says it's all organic. "My friends growing up were funnier than me" he says. "I took my daily observations and turned them into something relatable and funny!" Episode 44 starts off a little somber. Louie Louie's dog Morganna passed away and he's having a tough time. But the mood lightens when we talk about Halloween and that 12 foot skeleton Home Depot is selling out of! Joe admits he is a closet PSL addict (pumpkin spice latte) but he won't utter the term when ordering through his app in line at the Starbucks drive-thru. Joe says he will make pumpkin ravioli from scratch this weekend, and Anthony is disgusted. Joe whips out his elementary school recorder and plays us a song! Anthony’s big celebrity encounter was with Miley Cyrus. Joe & Anthony want to meet Taylor Swift, Joe says “She’s a regular person!” Anthony asks Joe who the nastiest star he’s ever met, but Joe won’t rat anyone out! He said there’s one woman star that he won’t name. Joe pokes fun at Anthony, saying he will definitely be in line to by the Gucci overalls that are covered in grass stains! What’s the dumbest thing you ever spent money on? Anthony paid off his old lease just to get out of the contract, of course it was a Mercedes and he was only 17 years old. Speaking of cars, Joe had a Lincoln Town car when he was cruising down 86th street back in the day. Anthony thinks Joe needs a street named after him in Brooklyn! Now on to Carol Baskin on Dancing With The Stars, Anthony thinks she murdered her husband & Joe doesn’t want to jump to conclusions. Joe says there’s no more stars on DWTS! Joe reveals he competed in the Staten Island edition of Dancing With The Stars! Joe piques Anthony’s interest by telling him there’s new WWE-themed wine with The Undertaker, and they talk about our boss Jim Ryan and his very high standards. Joe & Ant talk about their favorite wines. Joe talks fancy stuff and Anthony likes the Moscato from Costco! Now on to Burrata talk! Anthony went 90 days without it, Joe tried Mexican Burrata and loved it but he won’t give the restaurant a shoutout because they don’t "do the right thing!" Joe is considering buying a Tesla, but he’s “got a guy” at the gas station so he doesn’t want to give up that perk! Anthony’s watching a ton of TV lately, he’s really into Chicago fire and Joe is really into Love it or List it! He’s also watching a BBQ cookoff show on Netflix. Anthony won’t let Joe go on his admission that he watches Love it or List it, as he grabs his rocky road ice cream and binges! He also watches a couple of pool shows. Anthony tells Joe to Google Kim Kardashian.....

We start out episode 41 with outdoor restaurants. Anthony went to Bay Ridge with his dad and couldn’t believe how crowded the restaurants were. Joe & Anthony go at it about shopping, Joe says Anthony’s girlfriend must be going crazy because she can’t go on a shopping spree, while Anthony accuses Joe of spending too much time at Homegoods with his wife. Anthony is not taking any vacation this year because he has nowhere to go, he’s having a hard time trusting any hotels & airlines right now because of the pandemic. Joe gives suggestions on staycations that make no sense to Anthony. When told Walmart has cancelled black Friday, Joe tells a story about a “thing” he has where he can’t touch anything used. He won’t read a newspaper if someone already read it and he can’t buy something like a TV if it’s not sealed in the box or has been touched by anyone else! He won’t take an open box TV for 70% off because it was touched! Joe makes a surprising joke about Louie’s wife’s walk-in closet & urges Anthony to “get out there” and do more handywork. He feels it’s his job to “school” him in the right direction. We'll talk about what's happened in our lives and in the world since our last podcast, how we are coping and we will look toward the future. Episode 38 of the Brooklyn’s Own Podcast starts off with the plastic bag ban ready to go into effect March 1st in New York, and the chaos & confusion it’s causing. Somehow Joe thinks climate change activist Greta Thunberg is responsible for the plastic bag ban…..which she clearly is not! Anthony says he doesn’t know who Tony Bennett is, then says he remembers him from almost falling off the Sesame Street float during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, this obviously causes outrage in the room. Joe asks Anthony about his Valentine’s weekend and things get too personal, Anthony reminds Joe that his girlfriend’s mother Olympia listens to the podcast, Joe says Olympia…like Olympia Dukakis, and Anthony says he has no clue who that is, never heard of her! After some talk about toll beating, Joe asks Anthony when he’s going to propose, and then plans out his bachelor party which for some reason needs to include “fire trucks and German shepherds.” The podcast comes to an end when Louie’s dogs start barking so loud we couldn’t continue, not the first time it's happened...
