Show Notes
Seven Iranian women footballers, including the first five who arrived in Brisbane, have been granted asylum in Australia. Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke welcomed them, and A-League clubs like Brisbane Roar offered training facilities. This isnt the first time Australian football has supported refugees, as Melbourne Victory helped seventy-seven Afghan athletes in 2021. The Iranian players now have a new beginning in Queensland.
