KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Always lead with passion.
- If you get the chance to merge your passion with your work, do so.
- There are many commonalities between running a business and being a successful world-class athlete.
- Athletes and business owners need to set firm goals, measure their performance, then adjust their approach.
- You have to target your efforts. It's not enough to be busy. What you are doing has to move things forwards.
- Often, it is the small things that lead to the biggest gains. An athlete improving by just 1% can be enough for them to win.
- There are always opportunities, but you must prioritise wisely.
- Mindset is critical.
- Everyone is going to fail at some point. Failure is feedback, it is a normal part of the learning process.
- Over-confidence leads to complacency.
- Invest in educating yourself at all stages of your life and business journey.
- Being able to take sticky topics and simplify them enough so people can understand is a valuable skill.
- Stay true to your values. If you don´t you will lose passion and momentum.
- Being self-aware will help you to perform better whatever you want to do.
- Hold up a mirror to yourself. Be uncomfortable, then address your issues, and leverage those lessons.
- Be compassionate with yourself when you make mistakes. Address them but don´t beat yourself up about it.
- Trust your instincts. If something does not feel right park it or maybe, ask someone for a 2nd opinion.
