Nicholas Tian, an eighth grader from Bozeman, won the 61st Treasure State Spelling Bee, held at Montana State University. He secured first place by spelling tomium, earning a $1,000 prize and a trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Jonathan Waters-Serrato from Chester and John Neuhaus from Cut Bank took second and third place, respectively. The event, hosted by MTN anchor Russ Riesinger, featured talented spellers from across Montana.
