Two Montana universities, University of Montana Western and Montana Tech, have recognized students for their exceptional community service through the George M. Dennison Civic Engagement Scholarship. Lanie Crabb and Vivian Mayers from UMW, and Quinn Cox from Montana Tech, were awarded for their leadership and commitment to making a difference in their communities. Crabbs volunteer work includes suicide prevention, rural youth support, and a family tradition at a local cemetery. Mayers has dedicated over 290 hours to teaching, coaching, and guiding young people in faith, sports, and education. Cox, who received the award last year, has made significant contributions as a student senate leader, resident assistant, orientation guide, and long-term supporter of the schools student food pantry. These students exemplify the power of college students in building stronger communities.
