Show Notes
Alexander Butterfield, a key figure in the Watergate scandal, has passed away at 99. His accidental revelation of Nixons secret taping system during a 1973 Senate hearing accelerated Nixons downfall. Butterfield, who managed the hidden microphones, felt burdened but celebrated Nixons resignation after the tapes exposed the cover-up of the 1972 Democratic headquarters break-in. He later served as the Federal Aviation Administration head and pursued business in California.
