Graves, originally from Salt Lake City, had a rich life dedicated to dance and community service, earning degrees in modern dance, business administration, and healthcare administration. She worked on the cancer clinical trials team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and served on the board of the Northampton Arts Council.
