Medford Public Schools Close Due to Staffing Shortage; Alternate Schedule Announced

Medford public schools are closing this Friday, April third, due to a significant staffing shortage. Superintendent Suzanne Galusi announced the closure after a surge in call-outs left insufficient staff to ensure student safety. The closure follows a series of absences around religious observances, sick days, vacations, and personal reasons. The Medford Teachers Association is expected to respond soon. To make up for the lost day, the school year will be extended with full days on June twenty-second and twenty-third, early release on twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth, and an early out at Roberts Elementary on June twenty-sixth. The April twentieth vacation week remains unchanged. District leaders plan to review calendar policies on religious holidays to prevent future disruptions.
