Brockton Man Faces Severe Charges After High-Speed Chase, Shootout with Police

A 44-year-old Brockton man, Jailson Manuel Andrade, is facing multiple charges following a high-speed chase and shootout with police. Andrade was arraigned in district court on two counts of armed assault to murder and multiple firearm violations. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.

The incident began when police spotted Andrades white Lexus parked behind a lounge, linked to a recent shooting investigation. After attempting to pull him over for an improper turn, Andrade sped off, reaching speeds of 70 mph in a 30 mph zone before crashing.

At the crash site, Andrade exited the vehicle, reached for something, and started shooting at officers. Police returned fire, hitting Andrade and ending the threat. A 71-year-old man nearby was grazed by a stray bullet but survived.

Authorities found a pistol with a wiped-out serial number at the scene, and Andrade has a history of violent crimes, including assaults on officers and break-ins. He is currently recovering in the hospital from non-life-threatening wounds, with his next court date set for May 1st.
