Laiya Pavlov, a Concord-Carlisle High School senior, spent a year in Malaysia through a U.S. State Department exchange program. She immersed herself in local culture, learning Malay and excelling in school. Pavlov also volunteered at an orphanage and taught English to underprivileged kids. Upon returning, she established the Lotus Fund, a scholarship for young classical Indian dancers. Next fall, shell study international development and education at Middlebury College, aiming to share cultures and make a difference as a teacher.
