Show Notes

Vanna Howard, a Cambodian-American refugee, made history as the first of her kind to be sworn into the Massachusetts Senate, representing the First Middlesex District. Despite surviving the Khmer Rouge genocide and losing her family, Howard rose to prominence, serving as a state representative and leading the Massachusetts Asian American Commission. She won a special election in March, following the death of Senator Edward J. Kennedy, and is now ready to serve her community.
