On this day in Boston Celtics history, Andy Phillip, born in 1922, made his mark. After college and military service, he played for Chicago Stags, Philadelphia Warriors, and Fort Wayne Pistons before joining the Celtics in 1956. In a backup role, he averaged 3.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. His legacy includes five All-Star nods, two All-NBA teams, and two league assist titles, earning him a spot in the Naismith Hall of Fame.
In 1995, former Celtics forward Dominique Wilkins scored 19 points off the bench, surpassing 25,000 career points and becoming the ninth player to achieve this feat. He now holds the fourteenth spot on the all-time scoring list.
