Het Zorginstituut Nederland wil dat het geneesmiddel Wegovy, dat helpt tegen obesitas, voorlopig niet wordt vergoed in het basispakket. Dat adviseert het instituut aan zorgminister Fleur Agema. Het adviesorgaan hekelt hoe ‘ontransparant’ de ontwikkelaar van het medicijn (Novo Nordisk) is. Ook vreest het de enorme kosten voor de samenleving zodra het medicijn wordt vergoed. ‘Het is van belang om ook de kosteneffectiviteit te bepalen’, zegt Lonneke Timmers, medisch adviseur bij het Zorginstituut Nederland.
