De Amerikaanse marine wil olietankers door de Straat van Hormuz gaan begeleiden, zei de Amerikaanse minister van Financiën Scott Bessent gisteravond in een interview bij Sky News. Wanneer dat precies gebeurt, is nog onduidelijk. ‘De verwachting is dat dit eind maart kan worden opgezet’, zegt Pieter Zhao, onderzoeker maritieme veiligheid aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam.
