De Europese Commissie wil de doorlooptijd van handelsakkoorden met bijna een jaar verkorten door een vertaalstap over te slaan. Hierdoor kan politieke goedkeuring al plaatsvinden voordat vertalingen in de twintig talen van de EU zijn afgerond.
